The program serves 65 children in two different groups from 59 families between the hours of 7am and 5pm, Monday through Friday. The children receive breakfast, lunch and snacks daily, in addition to nutritional supplements. The program advises and accompanies families seeking solutions to their daily challenges of community life and economic wellbeing..
People around children (parents, caretakers, teachers) have the responsibility to create an environment worthy of unquestionable imitation on the child’s part. The environment should offer the child abundant opportunities for significant imitation and creative play. Inside and outside of the classroom the Kindergarten looks to discover a sign of hope in the children that allows them to live out a healthy and happy childhood.
Play based on imitation allows us to recognize the importance of giving boys and girls authentic and dignified models to imitate
The dignity of young girls and boys begins by guaranteeing their wellbeing and self-knowledge. The teachers’ creativity and enthusiasm are the fundamental gesture to achieve a material closeness with the boys and girls and their parents, and the posture that identifies the program in the community.
The staff avoids the kind of authority which debilitates the child’s willing cooperation and that furthermore creates a tense atmosphere disturbing the harmony of work. Art and play develop the creative fantasy that makes possible the creation of new and different worlds. A special emphasis is placed in the development of the child’s will, respecting and motivating interest, initiative and disposition for work. Parents are encouraged to participate in the Kindergarten as co-stewards in the educational and formative process of the children.
